Formulas
- Sale price = original × (1 − discount ÷ 100)
- Discount % = (original − sale price) ÷ original × 100
| Price | 10% off | 15% off | 20% off | 30% off | 50% off | 70% off |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| ₩10,000 | ₩9,000 | ₩8,500 | ₩8,000 | ₩7,000 | ₩5,000 | ₩3,000 |
| ₩30,000 | ₩27,000 | ₩25,500 | ₩24,000 | ₩21,000 | ₩15,000 | ₩9,000 |
| ₩50,000 | ₩45,000 | ₩42,500 | ₩40,000 | ₩35,000 | ₩25,000 | ₩15,000 |
| ₩100,000 | ₩90,000 | ₩85,000 | ₩80,000 | ₩70,000 | ₩50,000 | ₩30,000 |
| ₩200,000 | ₩180,000 | ₩170,000 | ₩160,000 | ₩140,000 | ₩100,000 | ₩60,000 |
Stacked discounts don't add up
A coupon applies to the already discounted price, so 20% off plus a 10% coupon is 28% off, not 30%.
| Discounts | Added | Real | ₩100,000 becomes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10% + 10% | 20% | 19% | ₩81,000 |
| 20% + 10% | 30% | 28% | ₩72,000 |
| 30% + 10% | 40% | 37% | ₩63,000 |
| 30% + 20% | 50% | 44% | ₩56,000 |
| 50% + 10% | 60% | 55% | ₩45,000 |
| 50% + 20% | 70% | 60% | ₩40,000 |
With a fixed-amount coupon the order matters: on ₩100,000, 10% then ₩5,000 off gives ₩85,000, but ₩5,000 then 10% gives ₩85,500.
FAQ
Is 20% off plus 10% off the same as 30% off?

(Original − sale price) ÷ original × 100. ₩50,000 down to ₩40,000 is 20% off.
What is 1+1 as a discount?
Two for the price of one is the same as 50% off; 2+1 is about 33.3% off.
